Name: Christopher C Evangelou.
D.O.B: 12th January 1986, born in Edmonton, London.
I was born in Edmonton on the 12th January 1986, the youngest son in a family of three sons and a daughter. I attended Christchurch School in North Finchley, obtaining 9 GCSE’s and then went on to Woodhouse College where I obtained 3 A Levels in Business, Sociology and Theatre.
At the age of 17 I walked into Haringey Amateur Boxing Club to just see what it was like, with a desire to begin learning the discipline and skill of boxing. At the first session I was practising the technical movements in the mirror as I had been shown, when the Head coach of the club, Chris Hall came over and asked if I had boxed before. When he realised this was my first experience of boxing, he was impressed and after a couple of further sessions, asked me if I wanted to pursue the sport of boxing as he wanted me to represent the club in boxing.
Unbeknown to me Chris Hall had successfully trained many profesional boxers and he quickly became my mentor, teaching me the fundamentals of boxing. I started to train at the club a number of nights per week but at this time I was still studying for my A Levels, therefore making it difficult for me to train to a greater intensity. I did manage to compete in my first fight which I won on points. It was a great experience and I descided once I finished college to pursue a career in boxing. The club gave me a schedule of times that i had to train at the gym and I trained intensely until I was given my second fight six months later, when I stopped my opponent within two minutes of the fight. This took away any doubts that I had that I could be successful in the sport of boxing.
